Mono Choro is a delicious and approachable light roast that is sweet and fruity without being too bright or acidic for most folks. We are tasting melon, chocolate and sugarcane. This fair-trade organic washed coffee from the Sanchirio Palomar Cooperative in the Chanchamayo province in the Junín region of Peru's Selva Central gets it's name from the endangered yellow-tailed woolly monkeys that are only found in Peru.

  • Grower: Sanchirio Palomar Cooperative
  • Region: Junín, Selva Central
  • Process: Washed
  • Altitude: 1500-1800 MASL
  • Certifications: Fair Trade, Organic
  • Tasting Notes: Melon, Chocolate, Sugarcane

From our Importer De La Finca:

Mono Choro takes its name from the woolly monkey that
moves through the cloud forest canopy of Peru's Selva
Central and from the Spanish slang that calls it a thief. Where
these animals still live, the forest is still intact, and that's
exactly the kind of land this coffee comes from.

Grown between 1,500 and 1,800 meters across smallholder
farms in the Selva Central by partner cooperatives with
decades of Fair Trade and organic certification behind them,
this is a clean, consistent Grade 1 washed Peru that delivers
on what FTO is actually supposed to mean.

De La Finca sources it because roasters who need reliable
volume and sourcing they can stand behind shouldn't have to
choose between the two.
